During the 23 years of its operation, our Malkų Įlankos Terminal, UAB in port of Klaipėda has become a leader in the handling of round timber, and we have been improving our performance in the handling of agricultural products and pellets every year. On the occasion of the anniversary, we talk to our company's director, Julius Kiršis.

In 2022, we have maintained our cargo handling curve at a similar level as in 2021, handling a total of 1 million tonnes of various cargoes, while the handling of agricultural products and pellets grew by 10% to 686 thousand tonnes.

"SGS" the international testing and process certification company, has awarded GMP+ certification to our terminal. This recognises that we comply with international quality and safety standards in our feed storage and transhipment processes.

We use and operate berths 142 and 141 which are belonging to the port of Klaipeda. This week, the construction contractors of the Klaipėda State Seaport Authority started the overhaul of berth 141.

We have completed a warehouse redevelopment project, which has seen the reconstruction of around 40 000 m2 of MĮT yard space, of which 15 000 m2 has been converted to accommodate a wider range of cargo.

The investment will increase the terminal’s handling capacity to 2.5 million tons of various cargo per year, and grain handling capacity will double.

In the first half of this year, we handled 450 thousand tons of various cargoes, it is for 15 percent less than in the same period last year.

The reconstruction works of the quay operated by the MIT were completed in October.

The upgrade of the lighting system for the entire terminal area was completed successfully by replacing the old metal halide and sodium lamps with energy-saving LED lamps.

In July 2017, MIT opened a complex of agricultural services. Today we are delighted that 5 ml. Eur investments in the expansion and improvement of the spectrum of services pays off.

MIT has loaded 44 000 tons of grain from the warehouse to Panamax vessel . BTG EVEREST is 229 m long.

The paper industry, which has experienced a major downturn in recent years, is recovering strongly. Growth is associated with an increasing demand for packaging paper (cardboard) in the world.

On April 22nd evening, at 20:50 the conveyor belt between the warehouses got inflame. The head of shift noticed a fire and called out firefighters. Klaipėda county fire and rescue service forces arrived at the scene of the incident and liquidated the fire in less than half an hour.

Intensive dredging works began in Malku Bay. It will be one of the largest infrastructure development projects launched by the port authority( JV KSSA).

On august 30, 2013 in Klaipeda State Seaport JSC MALKU ILANKOS TERMINALAS officially launched a new Bulk cargo terminal.

On 08/01/2013 first cargo was unloaded to the new bulk cargo warehouse.
